Description:

DECOMELT 4038 is a hot melt adhesive developed for use on automatic edge banding machines for gluing wood veneer, melamine, PVC and ABS edges. DECOMELT 4038 provides flexibility to use one adhesive for all type of applications. DECOMELT 4038 is clear and provides very good adhesion at low quantity. DECOMELT 4038 has high heat resistance, good flow and wetting characteristics. DECOMELT 4038 solidifies rapidly right after the application which prevents staining on edge bands and accumulation on cutter blades. DECOMELT 4038 is suitable for adhering edge bands with different widths from 0,40 mm to 2 mm.

APPLICATION PROPERTIES

Application pressure should be right and must be evenly distributed during bonding. Inadequate pressure may cause defects in bonding.
In case of prolonged machine-stops, the temperature of the adhesive shoul be decreased at least 30 - 40°C.
Check the temperature of the spreading roller frequently and make sure that the temperature corresponds to the value on the machine thermometer. Flactuations in application temperature, which can be either lower or higher, may affect bonding.
Check the quality of the bonding frequently. If new materials are used, it is highly suggested to make preliminary tests before proceeding continuous production.
The temperature of the materials to be bonded should not be lower than 18 – 20°C and the humidity should be in the range from 8 to 12%. Regarding these values, particular attention should to be paid during working in the cold periods of the year.

PRODUCT HANDLING – STORAGE – SHELFLIFE
Product is packed in 25 kg kraft bags. Store in a dry and cool place preferably between 10 °C to 30 °C. Keep away from heat sources and close the containers after use to prevent dust contamination. Product can be stored minimum for 24 months under recommended storage conditions. Apply stock rotation as to use the oldest material first.
