Decomelt 3920

product_code:

Description:

DECOMELT 3920 is a hot melt adhesive developed for edge banding applications specifically for adhering curved wooden substrates. DECOMELT 3920 has medium resistance to heat, relatively low viscosity and long open time properties. DECOMELT 3920 provides good adhesion due to good flow and wetting characteristics. DECOMELT 3920 can be used on semi-automatic edge banding machines that is suitable for the gluing edges made of PVC.

APPLICATION PROPERTIES

Spread the product in an even and regular layer.

The required quantity of the glue depends on the material which is intended to be bonded, and generally greater quantities could be necessary for more porous surfaces.
Application pressure should be right and must be evenly distributed during bonding. Inadequate pressure may cause defects in bonding.
In case of prolonged machine-stops, the temperature of the adhesive should be decreased at least 30 - 40°C.

Check the temperature of the spreading roller frequently and make sure that the temperature corresponds to the value on the machine thermometer. Fluctuations in application temperature, which can be either lower or higher, may affect bonding.
Check the quality of the bonding frequently. If new materials are used, it is highly suggested to make preliminary tests before proceeding continuous production.
The temperature of the materials to be bonded should not be lower than 18 – 20°C and the humidity should be in the range from 8 to 12%. Regarding these values, particular attention should to be paid during working in the cold periods of the year.

APPLICATION METHODS

Operating temperature on the application roll      130 - 140°C
Quantity of the glue                                              150 - 250 g/m2

PRODUCT HANDLING – STORAGE – SHELFLIFE
Product is packed in 20 kg kraft bags. Store in a dry and cool place preferably between 10 °C to 30 °C. Keep away from heat sources and close the containers after use to prevent dust contamination. Product can be stored minimum for 24 months under recommended storage conditions. Apply stock rotation as to use the oldest material first.
